Google folds to Russian pressure, purges online gambling sites

After paying a measly fine and facing an administrative case, Google finally succumbed to the pressure of the Russian government and initiated the removal of “prohibited internet resources” from its search results. The blacklisted domains, which were collected by Russian telecom watchdog Roskomnadzor, include online gambling sites. With Google finally complying with Roskomnadzor’s demands, it is expected that the number of gambling domains blocked in Russia would exceed the 76k websites it banned in 2017.
