Malaysian betting whale Paul Phua dodges jail time

Malaysian online betting and poker whale Paul Phua was able to avoid spending three years in prison after a Macau court judge acquitted him and 14 co-defendants of the illegal gambling charges filed against them. In his decision, Judge Lei Wai Seng said Macau police failed to link Phua or his co-defendants directly to any of the activity on the computers or betting slips that were seized in 2014. Had Phua been convicted, he could have ended up three years in prison.
