The Story

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Director Kenneth Blanco warned American gambling operators to apply anti-money laundering standards in their sports betting and mobile gambling activities. Blanco emphasized the need to use “all available information to detect and report suspicious transactions, or suspicious patterns of transactions, that occur” through mobile gambling apps. He also hit operators for being lax with ‘convertible virtual currency,’ as CVC-related suspicious activity report filings by casinos and card clubs “have not been as robust as expected.”
