The Story

Andrea Domingo announced on August 19 that the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will not be issuing new Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) licenses, citing national security concerns. A lawmaker and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana both raised concerns that since the planned POGO hubs are very close to military bases and government centers, these POGOs might just shift their focus from gambling to espionage. The announcement puts the current number of POGO license holders in the Philippines to 58, unless the government would have a change of heart.
